CPO Shirt - Black Overdyed Sashiko
Back in 2015, 3sixteen released their Work Jacket in a hefty overdyed black sashiko double cloth. As the years have gone by, they’ve seen worn examples show up and are consistently amazed by how well they fade. For FW22, they decided to custom mill a new, lighter weight version of this fabric. They worked with their partners in India to capture what made this fabric so special. This years version has the same soft hand and cushy texture from the double cloth but it also has heft and substance from the vertical sashiko stitching. This particular version is an indigo sashiko fabric custom woven for 3sixteen that has been overdyed black. This fabric will change over time, revealing blueish grey hues underneath.
From the late 1930s and through WWII, the CPO shirt was standard issue to Chief Petty Officers of the US Navy. 3sixteen has updated the fit with their trademark detailing, including crossed back yoke detailing, replica BDU buttons and two acorn-style flap pockets.
