Introducing HESTRA

We're proud to have brought in HESTRA gloves to the shop for FW18. Founded in 1936 by Martin Magnusson & Co in Hestra, Sweden , today the family business is still run by the third and fourth generation of Magnusson's. Design and development is made at their headquarters in Hestra. Their gloves are manufactured in their own factories and they buy all the leathers, fabrics, wool and other materials themselves. This gives them control of the production chain and ensures a high level of quality.

The quality and appearance of a pair of gloves is not just determined by how it has been made, equally important are the materials. HESTRA uses various types of leather sourced from around the world, each providing natural protection and insulating properties. These leathers are supple, warm and with varying special grains.

The leather used in the majority of the HESTRA gloves we carry comes from the North American white tailed Deer. Deerskin is soft, supple and warm with a beautiful grain texture. Each pair of deerskin gloves is always cut out from the same piece of leather by a skilled cutter with many years of experience. There is no coincidence that deerskin is a popular material for gloves as it tends to just get softer and more supple with age and wear. Deerskin is strong, but the grain is porous and therefore a bit sensitive.

We've brought in two styles with a total of four different options, all from the Sport Classic collection. The collections biggest source of inspiration is nature — the wild and unrestrained characterizes both the design and the selection of materials. Typical choices are elk leather from the Nordic and North American deerskin, lined with warm wool or lambskin.

Mother Day Gifts...From A Men's Store

I know, I know...what does a menswear store know about Mother's Day gifts?! Well, I have a mom and I buy her gifts...so a lot! What can you buy for a woman from a menswear store? If you’re still stuck on this one, we've got you covered. We did the rounds and picked out the bits we'd be happy to hand over to our own mother. Putting family first is like second nature to us ...don't let this mother’s day pass by, we've got a decent selection of gifts to help you out.

The Laboratory Perfumes Amber Eau de Toilette tops every gift idea on the market. First things first, it smells incredible. If you’re not familiar with Laboratory Perfumes, they specialise in producing gender-free fragrances in the heart of London. Amber is the original scent they first developed back in 2013, it’s what got the brand off the ground and it’s now become their signature (and best seller). If you think she'd prefer a softer scent, try their Tonka fragrance - a fine balance of floral fruitiness with peppery undertones. Give this one a go for mother’s day and you won’t be disappointed.

Woolfell  have been a Muddy George staple since day one and they’ve never let us down. Their craftsmanship is second to none, basing their products on a need to create useful and durable products. Their Cabin Carry-All, available in Black or Tan, as the name suggests, carries all! The spacious bag is great for overnight or weekends away (get mom a weekend spa package too!?) and comes with a adjustable shoulder strap. The leather will age beautifully, just like mom =)

These Velva Sheen Pigment Dyed tees have been a big hit this season, and we haven't even seen warm temperatures yet. Available in 11 different colours, these vintage inspired pigment dyed tees are cut from an overdyed US cotton and are detailed with a patch pocket to the chest and a classic ribbed crew neckline. More importantly, the seamless tubular knit construction also adds comfort and longevity. They run small so you're bound to find a size that will fit her.

FW15 Looks - Heavy-Weight Layers

It's cold. Not freezing cold, but cold enough to start thinking about thicker layers. When the temps hit the low teens, we layer up with a warm flannel shirt and flannel-lined wool-blend shirt jacket.

18 Waits - Rivington Weekender - Grey/Cream Wool Herringbone - This particular shirt-jacket from 18 Waits features side seam pockets to keep your hands warm. Shirt-jackets like this one (also available in black) can be worn as outerwear or as a layering piece that your parka goes over. It's super versatile and is wearable for Fall, Winter and Spring.

Portuguese Flannel - Vitoria - Fine metal brushes are run over the fabric to create a 'nap', which gives the material its softness. Beyond texture, the lifted material traps air and heat, making it the ideal counter to plunging temps.

Edwin - Skinny Stretch - Raw State - These jeans are made from Rainbow x Red/White Selvage Denim exclusively produced by the famous Japanese denim mill, Nihon Mempu. Selvedge denim is woven or knot so that they will not fray, ravel or curl...ie. better quality!

DW Leatherworks - Belt Loop Key Hook - Brown - The Belt Loop Key Hook is made of heavyweight bridle leather from Wickett & Craig that and can be fit onto 2" duty belts. Features a brass clip that will take any type of keys you have and a snap button for easy closure.

Anderson's - Calf Leather Belt - Brown - This vegetable tanned brown leather belt from Anderson's is made in Parma, Italy from premium quality calfs leather. Each individual belt is hand finished and polished by expert craftsmen.
