Inspiration was taken from the classic Italian open collar leisure shirts of the 50’s and updated the fit and fabric. The hemp shirt features an open collar, split-square hem and corozo nut buttons. This season, This iteration features a stripe applique that runs down the placket and around the hem. The applique is made up of a contrast fabric that is embroidered onto the shirt hemp base. Hemp is known to be stronger, more absorbent, more durable, and better insulating than cotton.

This season’s Leisure Shirts focus on a new technique that utilizes an appliqué process where contrast fabric is cut and placed on the shirt before being embroidered in place. This technique is very involved and time consuming- each applique piece must be very carefully positioned before being embroidered to the base fabric. While most applique
is simply stitched in place, 3sixteen opted to have the edge embroidered for a
cleaner look and feel that also has a bit more visual interest.
