20 Year Patchwork Kantha Vacation Shirt - Indigo/Tan

The Vacation Shirt design takes inspiration from classic open-collar leisure shirts of the 50’s coupled with an updated, modern fit. For SS23, this 20-year anniversary piece features traditional Indian quilting and kantha hand stitching. The inspiration for this shirt came from a one-off shirt that the 3sixteen factory made for them using fabric scraps from their FW21 Block BD Shirt. Because they didn’t have enough fabric scraps to produce a full run of shirts, they have had the same fabric reproduced and dyed to the exact shades of colour that were on those original shirts. The fabric is then sent to quilters who assemble the fabric, sew it together into a quilt, and then use traditional Indian handwork to apply decorative kantha stitching. The quilts also feature a light cotton voile lining which is used as a backer to strengthen the fabric. These large quilts are then sent back to their factory to be cut and sewn into shirts. No two shirts are alike. This is a highly labour intensive process that we are excited to be offering for the first time in partnership with 3sixteen.
